Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Controller are as follows:
· Report financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
· Develop organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations.
· Establish, maintain, and communicate company financial controls.
· Lead the general accounting functions of the company, including managing G/L, A/P, A/R, fixed assets, month-end close, and year-end close.
· Lead efforts to prepare annual and periodic financial and other compliance reports.
· Manage collections, banking accounts, and relationships.
· Maintain financial accounting systems and procedures.
· Collaborate with outside vendors, including outside accountants.
· Works closely with key stakeholders to identify and provide reporting tools, information, and analysis to them to better manage their specific area of responsibility.
· Support the company budget and forecasting processes as needed.
To effectively respond to client and project needs, role and responsibilities will vary and may include additional responsibilities not listed.
Skills and Experience
· 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
· Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally AcceptedAccounting Principles (GAAP).
· Proficiency with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
· Strong knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
· Experience with direct supervision of professional staff.
· Ability to interface with all levels within the organization.
· Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.
Working Relationships
· Internal: Works with executive staff and managers to support the financial integrity and goals of the company.
· External: Builds and maintains relationships with vendors, accountants, and bankers. Ability to independently work in and effectively navigate through ambiguous environments.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
